PRICING

All estimates are given based off of a $150/hr rate.

Non-negotiable $100 minimum.

Designs and sessions can always be worked to fit any budget or restrictions ahead of time.

Flash pieces or certain events may have set pricing, but they are usually mildly discounted or rounded down from my standard rate.

Some pre-drawn ideas can be customized or altered but increasing sizes, adding color, or re-designing will increase the original given price.

If you are interested in discounted work you can always reach out for artist preferred pieces. This may include practice in new techniques or styles to build a portfolio or gain experience.

Consults are always free (phone or in-person) but contained to 30 minute intervals.

ADDITIONAL CHARGES

For some projects that require more planning and sketching (coverups, reworks, and some custom pieces) a higher deposit may be requested. This is because they require more time and if the appointment is cancelled those designs usually will be discarded because they were so specific to the client.

Appointments for conventions and guest spots require an extra $100- $200 on your deposit (still deducted from your total at the end). This is because traveling and booth rents can be expensive and having last minute cancellations means artists lose money,

Iron Thorn has an open floor plan, but private sessions (limited to SUNDAYS only) can be requested for a higher rate of $190/hr. This will be prioritized mostly for people wanting to tattoo bigger pieces on or around sensitive areas. Lunch and a small care bag will be included in these sessions! (Privacy screens and pasties are available for no additional charge at all times.)

DEPOSITS

In order to confirm your appointment, you will need to submit a deposit. Your appointment will not be held if a deposit is not submitted.

1-4 hour booking requires a $50 deposit

4+ hour booking will require a $100 deposit

Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable unless stated otherwise. They are deducted from your total at the end of your appointment. When a tattoo is multiple sessions it is rolled over and deducted at the end of your final appointment.

YOUR DEPOSIT MAY BE FORFEITED IF YOU:

  • No call no show

  • Cancel or reschedule without 48hr notice

  • Rescheduled a second time even with notice

  • Are more than 30minutes late without contacting the shop or myself

DISCOUNTS

Family, friends, and return clients can benefit from 10%-20% discounts on certain projects or items in my shop as well as yearly giveback promotions to celebrate each year of tattooing!

Artist preferred pieces are also eligible for discounted rates. Reach out for a concept or piece you’re interested in with a budget you have in mind! (Artists preferred pieces are the ONLY works available for price negotiation and will be labeled ‘AP’ this does not apply to ALL pre-drawn designs. There is opportunity for slight customization, but sizing and placement may be fixed.)

TOUCH-UP POLICY

First touch-ups are generally free. Additional touch ups will be charged a discounted rate of $100/hr. All touch ups are still discretionary and it is important to note that they are reserved for flaws in execution not for general aging.

FAQs

Below are my own personal FAQ’s. Other artists and shops may have different policies or preferences

Do I have to be 18?

Yes! You have to be 18 at the time of your appointment with a valid form of photo ID or you will not be tattooed and you will forfeit your deposit. At this time, I do not tattoo minors even with parental consent. You may, however, book a tattoo prior to turning 18 as long as the appointment date is on or after your 18th birthday.

Can I bring someone with me? Can I bring my child with me?

Yes, if you have a solo appointment you may bring one non-appointment guest with you to keep you company. If you are a couple/group getting tattooed we ask to keep attendees limited to only those getting tattooed. There is limited space and seating when multiple artists are working at once.

We highly discourage bringing children to your appointment. We keep our studio clean and safe but it is still considered a contaminable area. Babies and toddlers will not be prohibited under any circumstances. Children ten or older may be allowed in the waiting area under certain circumstances but must be approved prior to your arrival for your appointment.

Can I get tattooed while pregnant, or on medication?

If you are on antibiotics, steroids, or blood thinners this can in some circumstances affect your tattoo. It is ideal to finish any treatments before scheduling your tattoo or with the approval of a medical professional. If you are diabetic or plan to undergo any significant procedures, consult with your doctor first. If you are pregnant or breast feeding it is recommended that you postpone getting tattooed until you are not.

What if my skin is injured?

Minor cuts, scrapes, or irritation could be inconsequential. The possibility of spreading an infection or not healing properly becomes more probable when skin is compromised. Sunburns, scars, rashes, and even stretch-marks can greatly influence the outcome of your tattoo. When you submit your tattoo request you will be asked to provide a picture of the area. If you have any changes to the condition of your skin leading up to your appointment after sending in your photo of the area, please communicate this prior to your appointment. Not doing so could result in needing to change the location of your tattoo or rescheduling.

Can I book a consult or see the design ahead of time?

A consult generally wont be needed for most projects. You may schedule a free 30 minute consult, but most appointments are scheduled with additional time for communicating and refining ideas. If you would like to meet prior to your tattoo, fill out the form and state that you would like a consult. Once the initial booking information is collected, a consult can be scheduled.

All designs are finalized at the beginning of your tattoo appointment, and no drawing will be sent ahead of time. This protects my time, artwork, and ensures that each client receives the same equal and undivided attention in the order they are scheduled.

How should I prepare? What should I bring?

It is ideal to be well- rested and fed before your appointment. Complimentary snacks and water will be available if needed, but for longer sessions it is highly encouraged to bring additional food or comfort items. Blankets, pillows, books, hand held devices, and headphones are great to keep you comfortable and occupied. Any items that cannot be contained to the available space will have to be stored in a designated area. Any clothing or items that inhibit the ability to properly tattoo will need to be removed and stored as well.

Please come dressed or able to dress for the area being tattooed. (Zip-ups, button downs, bikinis, shorts, etc.) Privacy screens and pasties will be available, but if you have any additional concern about privacy or other accommodation, please let us know prior to your appointment.

FOR FULL DAY APPOINTMENTS:

If you are a new client to Iron Thorn, try to arrive a few minutes early to fill out any new client forms. This will require a valid form of photo ID. Expect a possible 30-60min wait time for any design changes, sizing, or set up. Your design will be presented and finalized during your appointment time, drawings will NOT be sent out beforehand.

There is typically a larger mid-session break that you can feel free to prepare for by bringing a lunch or snack. Most appointments are estimated to run 2-5 hours, so you may also bring a few comfort items as well (small blankets, headphones, book/reading devices, neck pillows, fidget toys or stress balls). Any items or clothing that cannot be contained in the available space or inhibit the ability to properly tattoo the area will need to be removed. Please come dressed appropriately to allow access to the area being tattooed- zip up hoodies, shorts, tank tops, string bikini etc. In the event that ink or blood gets on any items or clothing it is best to come dressed in clothes you don’t mind getting stained.

At the end of your tattoo, expect to wait a few minutes to relieve any swelling or redness. Once you are cleaned up, expect 10 minutes of photos and video. Your patience and cooperation with this process is very much appreciated, and the photos or video will gladly be sent to you upon request. After all that, you will be wrapped or bandaged and provided with aftercare instructions while you checkout!

*If you have any privacy preferences or need any physical accommodation, please feel comfortable to make any requests prior to your visit (this could include the use of dividers, no photos or video, etc.).

Additional information…

*Aftercare instructions will be provided at the end of your visit.

*Tattoos take 2-4 weeks to fully heal. Submerging your tattoo or leaving it in direct sunlight is highly discouraged during that time.

*Iron thorn is a custom shop. When booking appointments, please expect to end up with a unique design that is being created specifically for you! This may require trust, flexibility, communication, and time so that all of your ideas and preferences can be taken into consideration and applied within the realm of a well-executed tattoo.

*The right to refuse any work at any time is completely up to the discretion of each artist.

*My typical appointment slots are as followed

M, T, TH, F - 12:00/1:00, 4:00/5:00

SA - 12:00

(Most Saturdays will primarily be reserved for groups or people with scheduling restrictions as well as flash events or small walk-ins. Having at least one weekday availability will generally ensure faster booking!)
